In the Blink of an Eye

The other night Damien and Emme had a conversation after dinner about how she is growing up and will not be a little girl anymore. Damien was pleading with her saying, "Emme, but I don't want you to grow up." And then Emme would say, "But Dad, I have to. I am going to grow up and get bigger." Damien and I often talk about how fast time is going with our little girls and how we don't want them to grow up. God has recently made me freshly aware of how quickly time does go by and how I need to cherish every moment that I have with my girls. I have been thinking about how I spend my days with them and what our conversations are about. Am I too focused on what I think needs to get done around the house or taking time out to read to them, talk with them, play with them, be silly with them? I also want to be purposeful in talking with them about Jesus throughout the day and how much He loves them. They can never hear that enough. I can never hear that enough! I love the words of Deutoronomy 6:7 as it talks about teaching our children the word of the Lord and His commands.

"You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." Deuteronomy 6:7

May God give me grace to to make every moment of the day count for Him as I serve my husband and my girls.

One Amazing Woman

My grandmother who we affectionately call, Meemaw, never ceases to amaze me with her servants heart. She is always ready to serve Damien and I by watching the girls. She has served us countless times so that Damien and I could go on a date night, go to our care group meetings once a month, or so I could go to doctor appts, etc. She always cares for the girls with such joy. They love their Meemaw. Well she amazed me yet again when on Sunday night she agreed to watch the girls so that we could go to our care group meeting and then agreed to keep the girls, both of them overnight at her house so that I could go to an appointment. It does not stop there. She then called and asked if she could keep Emme overnight again on Monday night so that Emme could go to her bowling league with her. I am so grateful for how she loves and truly enjoys spending time with our girls. We love going on outings with her as well. We will often go to the mall together or for lunch (which she many times insists on treating us, just another example of her giving heart). What wonderful memories they will have when they are older of special times with Meemaw. I know I cherish those times that I got to go stay with Meemaw and Pappaw when I was little. I thank the Lord for her and want to honor her for her unselfish, generous and ever-seeking to serve heart. How much glory that brings to the Lord. May the Lord help me to be more like that, joyfully serving and always seeking to bless others. We love you, Meemaw and rise up and call you blessed.

Welcome Home, Daddy

Damien has been away on a Sovereign Grace Men's Retreat with our church. We have missed him so much here at home. The girls and I decided to make him some chocolate chip cookies and a "Welcome Home" sign to let him know how excited we are for his return. We are so thankful that he desires to grow in godliness and in leadership of us. We are so blessed! Welcome Home, Love.

All For Our Good

What a night we had in this household last night! Both girls were crying and basically inconsolable. I think that Faith finally fell asleep and then Emme was up pretty much the rest of the night. I think the last time I traveled the very well known path from our room to hers it was 4 am. My girls have been battling sickness for the past two weeks. Just when I think they are better another symptom pops up. After a trip to the doctors office they are both on antibotics for ear infections. Poor things! All this to say that God has been reminding me through this season that all things are for my good. When I feel completely at a loss as to what to do for two screaming girls at midnight, God is using that time for me to call upon Him and recognize my complete and utter need for Him. I only pray that calling upon Him would be the first thing that I do instead of relying on my own wisdom. How wonderful to know that in every moment of every day He is there ready to pour out His grace on us, all we need to do is ask. What a loving and compassionate Father we have!
